| Summary |
"Island of Briar is a collection of traveling journals written by the Chinese contemporary writer, An Ni Bao Bei, in 2002. After her father passed away in 2001, An Ni Bao Bei started the journey around East Asian countries aiming at exploring life more. Her writing style is influenced by both eastern and western writers. The chapters I selected to translate in this thesis show how she was inspired by montage technique from film making. They also demonstrate her close observation as well as insightful thoughts about life and time."--Abstract. |
