The National Epilepsy League was formed in 1946 by the merger of the National Association to Control Epilepsy and the American Epilepsy League (founded 1939 as the Layman's League Against Epilepsy).
In 1964 the National Epilepsy League, the United Epilepsy Association (formerly the Association to Control Epilepsy), and the American Epilepsy Federation merged to form the Epilepsy Association of America.
On Sept. 23, 1967, The Epilepsy Association of America and the Epilepsy Foundation merged to form the Epilepsy Foundation of America.
